CONTRIBUTE A PERFORMANCE

Add a recording

Submit a recording for review. It will be stored online and published only after administrator approval.

MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG or M4A. Maximum 20 MB. Audio is streamed without transcoding; playback depends on browser support.

Your title, performer credit, date, work, registration and recording will be visible when approved. Your account email stays private. Read before submitting.

About the archive

This digital archive was established in 2026 by William Saunders, Colchester City Organist, to bring together the instruments, histories, photographs and sounds of Britain’s city and town halls.

This collection brings civic organs, their histories and performances together. Instrument profiles include sourced photographs, histories and links to published specifications.

Registered contributors can submit photographs, audio or YouTube / Vimeo links. Submissions are stored online and reviewed by the administrator before publication. Public sign-in uses a code sent to your email. Staging also uses Cloudflare Access.

The collection includes working profiles, historical instruments and clearly labelled research templates. Photographs and historical specifications are dated. This is an independent initiative, not an official venue or NPOR service.

Contributions & privacy

Your contribution

You keep ownership of your photographs and recordings. By submitting, you grant City & Town Hall Organs non-exclusive permission to store, reproduce for delivery, stream and display your contribution with its supplied credits for this collection. No sale, AI training permission or transfer of ownership is granted. If you choose an additional reuse licence for a photograph, that licence also applies.

Only submit material you have permission to share, including the music, recording, performers, photographer and any venue restrictions. Please do not submit identifiable children. Videos must be links you are authorised to share.

All submissions are reviewed before publication. The administrator can decline or remove material. Withdraw a submission from My submissions to remove it from public display. Copies already accessed by visitors cannot be recalled, and withdrawal does not remove videos from YouTube or Vimeo.

Your account and privacy

We store your verified email, public display name, account role, contributions, permission declarations and moderation history in Cloudflare database and object storage. Account emails are private. Credits, descriptions and any contact details you deliberately submit for publication may be public. Photograph files may contain camera or location metadata; remove any metadata you do not want to share before uploading.

Email sign-in codes are delivered through Resend. Codes expire after 10 minutes. We store code hashes and a keyed hash of the requesting IP to limit abuse. Your session cookie is required to keep you signed in for up to seven days. Expired sign-in records are periodically removed. Favourites stay in your browser storage.

Rejected or withdrawn files remain private until the administrator arranges deletion. To request account or file deletion, correct information or raise a rights concern, email William Saunders. You can also report a published contribution while signed in.

Map tiles connect to OpenStreetMap and map software loads from unpkg. External video players connect to YouTube or Vimeo only when you choose Load video. Their privacy practices apply.

Upload limits

Photographs: JPEG, PNG or WebP up to 10 MB. Audio: MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG or M4A up to 20 MB. Each account may submit up to 10 photographs and 10 recordings per day. Full backups include stored media; catalogue exports contain metadata only.

Report a contribution

Your report is visible only to the administrator. Include enough detail to identify a rights, accuracy or content concern.
